Shortly after independent artist, Jacob Nixon, released his debut album “No Going Back” on December 16th, he released the music video to “Personal Life” on YouTube last night. This 2 minute film shot and directed by videographer Aaron Meighan did not disappoint. Sometimes all you need is 2 minutes, to embody a much greater message. “Personal Life” is without a doubt the song of the album. At first listen, I knew it was vulnerable, and I felt the heart put into it. However when the visuals came out, it really came to life for me. It's amazing how much of a difference a video can make in terms of creating a feeling. This video mostly bounced back and forth between two shots, but it did it's justice with simplicity. It's no surprise why this was the song they chose to do a video for. Nixon is widely known as an engineer at Do Over Don’t Studios out of Norwood, MA, with many of his clients that came up from his initial studio in his basement. His growth has been impeccable lyrically, vocally, professionally and creatively. In less than 24 hours of this video drop it's received nothing short of praise, including a shoutout from @bostonculture on Instagram and all of his supporters. It is very noble taking adversity and turning it into something positive, and that's something I can absolutely commend Nixon for on this song. Job well done, I think I can say we’re all looking forward to what you have in store for us next.
